I am researching the William Ogletree family from Hanover Co. VA from around 1740. William was married to Johanna Knight, and had at least 2 children : Thomas Ogletree, Sr. and John Ogletree, Sr. I am the 6th great-granson of Thomas Ogletree, Sr.
I am looking for source information about the actual relationship between William and Thomas and John. To my knowledge, there has been no evidence of a direct link between the 3 of them.
I would also like any information about William travelling to America from Scotland, sometime in the early 1700's. William may have been born in Ochilltree, Ayershire, Scotland around 1710. He witnessed a deed in Hanover Co., VA on 3 May 1734. This narrows down the search to approximately 24 years, but records from that time are rare. He may have come over from Ireland, again details are sketchy.
I am also researching the Tiroff family from Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. The mother, W. ,age 44, daughter, M., age 16, son Otto, age 15 and son Alvin, age 13, arrived in America on the steamship Nederland on 18 Jun 1885, in Philadelphia. They departed from Antwerp. I am the 2nd great-grandson of Alvin. I do not have any information on the family's origins in Germany. The father, name unknown, may have been severely wounded or killed in the Franco-German war of 1871-72. The family name may have been spelled : Thierolf, Tyroff, Tierdoff or Thieroff.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
