Notes for George Lambert,Sr:
"Lampert, Baltzer (Balthasar).Archives of the village of Morzheim in the Palatinate posseses a document (A-11), containing the power of attorney given by Baltzer Lampert of Skeepack (Schipback), Skippak, Philadelphia (now Montgomery Co". to Philip Ulrick of the town of Philadelphia when he appointed hm as attorney for the receipt of outstanding money (especially deriving from the inheritance of said Lampert's father, Johannes Lampert in village of Morzheim, Document dated 22 October 1739."
"George Baltazar Lampert was born at Morzheim on 14 Feb., 1718. the son of Johannes and Abelonia (Appolonia) Lampert. Baltazar Lampert arrived on the Ship "Davy", 25 Oct., 1738 ."(Strassburger Hinke, Pennsylvania German Pioners, Vol. 1, publ. by Pennsylvania German Society, 1934 and F. Krebs & Milton Rubincan "Emigrants from the Palatinate to the American Colonies in the 18th Century", Pennsylvania German Society, Norristown, Pa. 1953)
"He was doubtless of foreign birth and probably a native of Germany or Switzerland;in documents relating to the family more than a century ago [ i.e. before 1898] the name is spelled "Lampert".On the 18th of November, 1742 he secured a patent for two hundred acres of land, to which he gave the name of Lambert's Park..... It is probable that the residence of the pioneer corresponded in location with the buildings on the farm of Joseph Martin.South of these buildings several hundred yards is a small burial ground in which the most conspicuous object is an immense stone, about 4 feet square and one foot thick, securely planted in the ground. It bears this inscription: "1781.Hier liegt Eva Lambert in ihre Tochter.War alt 59 Jahr." This Eva Lambert was probably the wife of the pioneer, and the date of her death is the earliest inscribed on a tombstone in Leitersberg District....In 1758 and 1760 he was appointed by the Frederick County court supervisor 'of all the main roads above Beaver Creek in Antietam Hundred'" (Herbert C.Bell, History of the Leitersberg District, Washington County, MD. Published by the author, Leitersberg, MD, 1898, p. 160 - 161.)
