| The earliest documents relating to James O'Neal is his Will which is in Gallatin County, Kentucky. son of Robert O'Neal of Fayette Co., Kentucky. James is also found in the Davidson Township,Lawrence County,Arkansas, Territorial Tax Records. They show James and later his first born son, Lewis, paying taxes in 1829 thru 1835.James dies in 1835. His probate record is the first recorded in Randolph County, Arkansas, but he died in Kentucky. Without ever moving from their farm, the O'Neal family was situated in two states and three counties. Records are in Lawrence County, Arkansas, Randolph County, Arkansas, and Oregon County, Missouri. James left to his family, his home, land and chattel. His son John, a Confederate veteran, married Rutha Street, August 29, 1840 in Randolph County, Arkansas. Johns' son Lewis, a successful farmer, merchant and steam grist mill owner, married Thalia Jones, November 5, 1874 in Oregon County, Missouri. Lewis had a son named John Lewis, a farmer, who married Sarah Ada Wheeler, January 9, 1908. John and Ada, my grandparents named their youngest son Venton, who married Josephine Lima October 23, 1948. Venton and Jo named their first son Michael.
