This will be the Home Page of the Ono family that began in America with the immigration of Kinsuke Ono. He arrived in the USA in 1900 from Soja-shi, Okayama-ken, Japan. He settled in Sebastopol, California. He married Kotora Okazaki as a "picture bride" and raised four sons: Masami, Kanemi,Tadashi, and Yonemi.Masami (Sam) as the oldest son was taken back to Japan to live with Uncle Manjiro Ono in Soja-shi, Okayama-ken and went to school for six-years. I was able to visit Japan and discover the Hideo Ono, granson of Manjiro, and his family still living at the Soja-chi address that I found on a microfilm file in the National Archives in Washington, DC. The ship transport record showed that Kinsuke and Kotora Ono and son, Kanemi were on a ship leaving Japan for the USA in 1920. I've taken the liberty of thinking that this was when Masami Ono was left behind to attend school.
I'm hoping to share this with all descendents of Kinsuke and before him, his father Fusajiro, so that we can work as a family team to make and preserve our family history.
Please suggest any new information and corrections that will help this family history to be as accurate and detailed as possible. Other information such as health history, cause of death, significant contributions, personal accomplishments, etc. would be useful as well as interesting.
