At the time of his marriage, he indicated both parents dead and that he was born 12/19/1859 in Cincinnati and mother was Elizabeth JONES - father FNU ORE. The marriage license (No.5321) was issued 6/30/1880 by E.M.Payne, clerk, Whiteside Co., page 132 of marriage register.Lottie Temple BRITT was 17 yrs old an William Henry ORE claimed to be 20 yrs old (may have been 18) and a farmer with no legal guardian. Fletcher POMEROY, pastor, M.E. Church, Tampico, Ill., officiated.J.W. WHITE attested that he was "well acquainted" with William ORE and that he was 20 yrs old and had no living parent or guardian. Witnesses to the marriage were Spencer BRITT and Nattie LUDDINGTON.
He worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a switchman and brakeman 1891-1892 an lost left arm in the coupling between two railroad cars in 1892.He listed his employment with the Burlington Railroad 1891-1932. At the time of his death, he worked as a watchman for the C.B.&Q Railroad at the Avenue B crossing.As of 18 June 1923, he was a chauffeur.
He had red hair and was an avid Gardiner who had a large garden in Rock Falls, Ill.
