John II left a will dated 25 Jan 1727 and proved in 1728 - Princess Anne County.Richard and John III died before their father and both left wills.William sold Virginia land Dec 7, 1713 and moved to Craven County, NC where he died.Thomas sold his Virginia land Nov 4, 1729 and moved to Craven County, NC.This move was after the death of his father.Dinah also went to Craven County.She out lived her husband.She left a will dated Aug 9, 1732 - Bath County, Craven Precinct."For love, I give my children land I now live on 275 acres to be equally divided - house, barns, buildings, fences, orchards, timber, gardens, meadows between my daughters Elizabeth, Dinah, Mary and Sarah Horsington"Elizabeth also outlived her husband .She left a will dated 1734, naming her daughter Mary and sons, John, Gideon and Enoch Whitehurst.James stayed in Princess Anne County, VA.
WILL OF JOHN II CARRAWAY
In the name of God, Amen.I, John Carraway, of Princess Anne County in Virginia being in bodily health and of perfect mind and memory for which I bless God but cauling to mind mortality do appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following:Imp's: I commit my Spirit to almighty God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be decently inter'd:
Item 1st:I ordain and direct that all my just debts be paid:
2dly:I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Sarah Carroway my negro girl cald Rose and all her increases to her and her heirs forever but is my granddaughter Sarah Carroway should die without issue then I give ye said negro girl to my son William Carroway and his heir forever.
3dly:I give and bequeath to my daughter Dinah Horsington my negro woman cauld Bess and all her increase and she shall have for ye future and her and her heirs forever.
4thly: I give and bequeath to my son William Carroway my negro woman caled Edy and all her increase to him and his heirs forever.
5thly: I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Carroway my negro woman caled Kate and all her increase to him and his heirs forever.
6thl: I give and bequeath to my son James Carroway my large iron kittle and my hand mil, one bed and furniture he having his choice of all my bedding to him and his heirs forever.
7thly: I give unto my two sons William and James Carroway all my tract of land at tho gr___ a (unreadable) which I purchased of William Stafford to them and their heirs forever.
8thly: I give unto my son James Carroway all my land and ca: purchased of ye exos of one John Pallet to him and his heirs forever.
9thly: I give unto my son James Carroway al my horses and mares of what ___ ___ (words left out) so every they be as also all my hogs to him and his heirs forever.
10thly: I give to my daughter Ann Whitehurst one cow and two ewes to be paid her out of my stock of cattle and sheep to her and her heirs forever.
11thly: I give to my daughter Elizabeth Whitehurst my negro girl caled Bess and all her increase to her and her heirs forever I likewise give to my said daughter Elizabeth one cow and two ewes to be paid out of my stock of cattle and sheep to her heirs and ca.
12thly: I give to my daughter Dinah Horsington one cow and two ewes to be paid her out of my stock of cattle and sheep to her and her heirs and ca.
13thly: I give to my son James Carroway all of my cattle and sheep except those above given to him and his heirs and ca.
14thly: I give all rest of my estate not before given to be equally divided between my three sons Thomas, William and James Carroway and to my three daughters Ann Whitehurst, Elizabeth Whitehurst and Dinah Horsington to them and their heirs forever.
15thly: I give and bequeath to my kind and loving wife Ann Carroway the labour of my before named negroes as also the use of my personal estate whatsoever during their natural life and after her decease according to the before devices and bequest and it is my true intent and mea ning she my said wife have and enjoy the use of all my estate and labour of the negroes as Above without any manner of interruption whatsoever during her natural life as aforesaid.
16thly: I do ordain and appoint my son James Carroway to be the whole and sole executor of this my last will and Testament requiring him to perform ye same duly and truly and without molestation of trouble of court further than necessary in witness and confirmation of all I hav e hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th day of January anno Dom: 1727.
