|Patricia a Pagan|
Hi, I'm Pat Yelvington Pagan. My dad, Marion Albert Yelvington taught me to be proud of the Yelvington name so it was natural that I have an interest in genealogy. Learning about my ancestors has been very rewarding and in the process I've "found" many living relatives that have made this journey very rich. My dad loved these poems, I'll share them with you.
A LIVING FAITH (Hurbert A. White)
I've dreamed many dreams that never came true, I've seen them vanish at dawn, but I've realized enough of my dreams, thank God, to make me want to dream on.
I've prayed many prayers when no answer came, though I waited patient and long, but answers have come to enough of my prayers to make me keep praying on.
I've trusted many a friend that failed and left me to weep all alone, but I've found enough of my friends true blue to make me keep trusting on.
I've sown many seeds that fell by the way for the birds to feed upon, but I've held enough golden sheaves in my hand to make me keep sowing on.
I've drained the cup of disappointment and pain and gone many days without song, but I've sipped enough nectar from the roses of life to make me want to live on.
You got it from your father,
it was all he had to give.
If you lose the watch he gave
you it can always be replaced,
but a black mark on your name
son can never be erased.
It was clean that day you
took it and a worthy name to bear,
when he got it from his father
there was no dishonor there.
So make sure you guard it wisely,
after all is said and done.
You'll be glad that name is spotless
when you give it to your son.
Thanks to all the family members that continue to give me Names, Dates and Places.
I am interested in not only names and dates but "who" my ancestors were. So, if you know any family stories, verified or not, please share them.
Feel free to contact me at my email address.
If you would like to participate in our MyFamily.com site, Florida Yelvingtons, email me and I will send a username and password for access.
