Andrew Edmondston followed the profession of a Notary.He may have been a son of Mr. John Edmondston, at that time minister of Crail.He went to Shetland about 1590, as he witnessed a charter by Patrick, master of Orkney, to William Sinclair in liferent, of a tenement in Scalloway, dated September 26th, 1592.Previous to 1598, he was admittedminister of Yell, and as such witnessed a letter of reversion, dated August 21, 1598.
On January 24, 1619, as Andrew Edmondston of Hamnavoe, minister of Yell, he excambs with consent of his spouse certain lands with Walter Scott of Whytsness.He was seised in 1625 in 5 merks land in Strand in Fetlar, on Charter by Thomas Lauder to him and his wife.He also acquired the lands of Hascosay and Gravaland, and died about 1632.
