- Fictionalized story in dialect . (8 KB)
This incident I found in Mathias Snelson's Civil War Record intrigued me so much, it inspired this story.Orange Shaul was real, a neighbor, and fellow soldier.I made up the particulars, since I know nothing of the truth.I had not known my grandmother, Sarah Jane, was Mathias' second wife until I read the CV Record. In fact, I knew nothing of Mathias until I inherited the genealogy papers when my mother died in 1990.
