|It is known that John Penticoff and a brother left Holland and arrived in New York Harbor the spring of 1820.But for some unknown reason these two brothers parted here never to meet this side of the grave. All trace of the brother was lost.At one time it was reported some of his descendants were in or around Kansas City, Missouri, but no record was ever found of them.|
John Penticoff left New York, going to Pennsylvania and settling near Yorktown in Clearfield Count Pennsylvania. Here he was married to Mss Katherine Young about 1824 or 1825.We have no record of this.
To this union were born either eight or nine boys and two grils: George, Philip, John, Henry, Simon, Peter, Jacob, Suzan, Matthew and Katherine. If there was another boy we can find no trace of him or his family.
John Penticoff left Pennsylvania, going to Iowa where he took a homestead near Metz, Pennsylvania. No record are found for their deaths. This bit of history and genealogy has been compiled by Mrs. Glenora Taylor, the Daughter of George Pentico, who is a grandson of John Penticoff. Sr.Mrs. Taylor is of the Third generation from John Penticoff, Sr., the first Penticoff of direct lineage to come to
You will note that the Penticoffs dropped the "ff" from their name in just a few years after coming to America.
The time of compiling of this genealogy is the Year 1940 A.D.
