My branch of the Perry family descends from a Thomas Perry who was one of the earliest settlers of the Town of Ipswich, Massachusetts. This Thomas Perry was in Ipswich as early as 1629.His son Matthew [ca. 1630 - ca. 1697] was born in Ipswich but lived in Boxford Massachusetts where his son, William Perry [2 August 1697 - ca 1740] was born.William's son, John Perry ca. 1705 - 8 Nov 1777] was born in in Portsmouth , Newport County, RI. William Perry moved to Swansea (in Bristol County), Massachusetts before 1708 [his house there is still standing on the banks of the Taunton River]. This John Perry married Elizabeth Gachet in 1732 and their son John was born on 9 Oct 1733.His son was Matthew Perry (26 May 1754-15 April 1831.
