| I am researching my English ancestors which includes the Clark, Slaughter, Turner and Tenney families. Most seem to have arrived in New England and migrated westward later. I have located Clarks back to 1756 in New Jersey (Rev. John Clark). The Slaughters I can track no farther back than the Civil War (Elijah Terry Slaughter b.1849 PA), the same with the Turners (Nelson Turner b.1831 NY).The Tenneys have been documented to the 16th century in England. I am also researching the southern Perdue family. They settled first in Maryland (17th century) then moved southward and landed in Alabama. These include Perdues, Naftels, Caddells and Yeagers. They settled in Bibb, Coffee and Montgomery Counties in Alabama. |
