My husband, Gerard Perusse is of French Canadian decent. Thanks to his many cousins in Canada, we have much information and are in the process of linking it to Pierre Perusse of Poitou-Charentes, Ashieres-la-Giraud, France who is purported to be the first Perusse male to emigrate to Canada. It has been said that Pierre's sisters, who were Ursuline nuns, emigrated to Canada before him. There was land granted by the King (Louis?) which, we believe, was located in St-Louis de Lotbiniere, Quebec, Canada and was kept in the Perusse family until approximately 1957 when Gerard Perusse, my father's cousin, died.My husband's mother, the former Rachel Pauline Blais, was from Trois-Rivieres, Montreal, Canada. | |
