I have begun my family research on my mothers side of the family, my great, great grandfather, Edward Godfrey Uebrick. He was from Essen Germany, sailed to New York and then traveled to White Oaks, New Mexico (today it is called "a living ghost town" where they still mine the tailing in the old gold mines). It has been said that the wealthy land owners held out for more money from the railroad for the right of way and the railroad skipped white Oaks and wentto Carrazozza NM.He and his family then traveled by covered wagon to Dallas, Texas and settled in the Oak Cliff area.Edward G. Uebrick and his wife Anna are buried in the Oak Cliff cemetery.Emma Uebrick married a firefighter named Edward Maginn who was injured in a devastating accident between the horse wagon and the first motorized fire wagon. After I finish this branch of the family I will be researching my fathers side --the Llewellyns. | The Patricia Llewellyn Perentesis Family Home Page Updated September 5, 2000 |
