| I am researching the history of my family and looking for new cousins.My family roots areSaxon, Welsh, Castilian, Norweigan, Norman, English, Scot, Scotch-Irish, German, and Swiss. My wife's family is Chinese from Taiwan with roots in the Guangzhou region of China. I have always been interested in my roots, listening to family stories when I was younger, reading the research of my Rinderknecht cousins who started researching the Belknap family line which gave me a good starting point. My family came to America very early in its history. My wife is the most recent arrival coming to America in 1972, prior to her my Welsh great grandparents were next then my German GG Greatfather and Swiss GG Grandmother.My English ancestors came from the 1620's up through the 1900's, the Scots and Scots-Irish during throughout the 1700's.Another group of German and German speaking French from Alsace-Lorraine ancestors also came during the 1700's.Many of my early English ancestors emigrating to the American Colonies settled in Massachusettes near or in Salem.Some were participants in the Salem Witch Trials in 1692.The Germans, Swiss, Scots and Scots-Irish settled mainly in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Ohio. My European roots stretch from the Viking Earls who ended up settling in Normandy, France and then invaded and conquered England with William I, the Conqueror to the Saxons who they defeated. Even more ancient in Britian are my Celtic roots in Cornwall, Wales, and Scotland.My Norman ancestors also were married into families of Castile and Leon and many were involved in the Crusades in Palestine. I have found direct ties to the Saxon nobility of England, Scottish royal families, Celtic Welsh Kings, Castilian royal families, and the Norman Kings of England. My American ancestors and served their country well from the King Phillip's War, the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, World War I, World War II, through the end of the Cold War.Most were farmers, merchants, steel workers, but some were doctors, lawyers, and all contributed to the growth of British American Colonies into the United States of America. These are my roots, it took all of these ancestors to make me, they are a part of me and their history and blood lives on in me. My paternal lines: Peter from Germany, Nydegger from Switzerland, Belknap from England, McCreery from Scotland by way of Ireland, Kline from Germany, Mushrush from Alsace-Lorraine, Deis from Germany, Putnam from England, Kraft from Germany, Fuchs from Germany, Hayes from England and many more. The maternal lines:Harris from Wales, Hamilton from Scotland by way of Ireland, Peach from Wales, Nicholson from England, Harris from England, McIlvaine from Scotland by way of Ireland, Kennedy in Scotland, Hunter from Scotland by way of Ireland, Stewart in Scotland, Wherry from Scotland by way of Ireland, and many more. These are my roots, my history, and my blood. | |
