|Dr. Joseph P. Plumley, Jr., is a descendent of: William Jerome Plumley, (b. Oct. 26, 1840), and Mary Caroline Painter (b. Feb. 17, 1849) who resided in Elijay, Georgia; Isaac Wilkes (b. 1740 in England); Major Pritchett , and; James Carl West.|
My family has lived mostly in Georgia for the past 150 years, having migrated from North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Ten generations of the Plumley family have been traced beginning with four brothers, Charles Plumly (b. in England, d. 1683) James Plumly, George Plumly, and John Plumley who arrived in the Philadelphis area in approximately 1682.Although most of the Plumleys appeared to have migrated south to the vicinity of where my decendents settled in North Georgia, I have not been able to connect the family tree further than William Jerome Plumley.
I have traced my maternal family tree to Isaac Wilkes who was born in England in 1740 and lived and died in Lumberton, NC.His family migrated to Emanual County Georgia in the late 1700s.
I would welcome any and all information and will share my information as well.
