|I dedicate this book and webpage to my mother and father, Edith Lee Pomeroy (Hudnall)and Thomas E Pomeroy. Mother started me out on this long genealogy research by providing me with a list of names and dates of family memebers and a brief story of her life. Mother always had a keen mind on the past fa;mily events and other family interest. So this book and webpage and all the research that has and will be done on this family tree goes to them. We love you! |
Edith L. Pomeroy 1921-1997
Thomas E. Pomeroy 1918-1983
My sister, Marcella F. Smith (Pomeroy) has been helpful in supplying me with the family pictures, obituaries, and other items of interests. This has made my research a lot easier.
With the "World Wide Web" and placing many queries on the West Virginia Web sites, I have been able to make contact with many relatives that have done research on many surnames of this family. The most important contact was from William Roosevelt Hudnall of Virginia. He has given me a copy of his research, "Some Hudnalls of Kanawha County," and a copy of Carment Lathey Barron's research book, "Our Lathey Family," which also includes the Hudnalls.
I also made an internet connection with another Hudnall researcher, Harold L. Hudnall of Texas. He had written research book on the Hudnall family called "The Ancestors Of Thomas Jefferson Hudnall."
I was having a terrible time finding information on the "Pomeroy" and "West" family when I got a reply from one of my queries from Marlene Perry (West) of Scott Depot, WV.She gave me a copy of her research for the "West" family that she had been researching for twenty years.I mentioned to her about not been able to find any information on the "Pomeroy" family and she sent me a note that had James and Margaret Pomeroy listed in Boone County, WV.This was the break I needed and I thank you Marlene. With this I have been able to trace James and his family back to the late 1780s.
Another researcher, Glen Jones of Texas, supplied me with a 1845 picture ofJames Pomeroy Sr.'s daughter, Sarah. He also gave me information on the Thompson side of the family and more information on James Pomeroy.I am very greatful to you Glen.
When I started my research my intention were to follow a direct family line within the surnames, Fraizer, Hudnall, Pomeroy, Smith, and West.It was not long before I found two other surnames, Jones and Moore that were also a direct link to the Pomeroy family. With these seven surnames I was able to come up with a title for this book which I thought was appropriate.Further research has pushed the number of surnames to over twenty-seven.Most surnames are in-directly linked. The vision I have with this title was that all of these people have came together to make myfamily exist. With that in mind I titled this book,"THEY ALL CAME TOGETHER."
