Nathanial Flud (b. Abt. 1808, d. October 15, 1863)
Notes for Nathanial Flud:
When Nathan Flood joined the Union Army in Civil War Time they did
not muster him in.He became ill with heat stroke while gathering fodder for the Cavalry horses: illness became dysentery. and he died at the hospital at Springfield, Missouri and
is buried in the National Cemetery there.
His wife Mary Polly Jones finally got her widows pension from his Service
after a period of time, by proving with depositions that Nathan was issued
his uniform, arms and began his duties as a soldier. He was 56 years of
age at the time he joined the Union Army and was a Blacksmith.
If they had mustered Nathan in, we would know just exactly where he was
born. So, due to human error, much research is lost.
To date I am not sure where in the Carolinas he was born.
Found one place where a John Flut (spelled this way) married a
Rebecca Mayo in North Carolina.
I tend to believe maybe Pitt County,North Carolina was where they may
have been from. But one census the children say he was born in NC,
then another in Carolina and yet another in Tenn.
There were lots of Fluds in South Carolina.
