Abner P. Vincent was born about 1800 in the State of North
Carolina.Sometime later he moved to Weakley County, Tennessee, where
he appears on the 1830 and 1840 census.He married his wife, Susan
P.W. Vincent, sometime in the 1820's.Susan was born about 1810, in
the state of Virginia.Some of the other Vincents that were heads of
households in the 1830 Weakley County Census were Perry Vincent and
John M. Vincent. Abner and his wife, Susan, moved their family to
Harrison County, Texas.They moved there sometime in the 1840's.
They settled in an area known as Ashsprings.Perry Vincent also moved
his family to Harrison County, where he died about 1846.
Abner and Susan Vincent settled on 240 acres of land, part of the
William Watson Survey, in Harrison County, just out of Tatum.I know
the names of most of their children.Some of them must have died
before reaching adulthood.Some brilliant person who took the 1850
and 1860 Census in Harrison County, Texas only listed the people by
initial only.Some of the children.The children I do know are: Mary
M., Louisa A., Calvin, Abner P. Jr., Susan P.W., James K. Polk and
Mary M. Vincent was born in 1829 in Tennessee.She married John
M. Sorrelle on September 13, 1849, Harrison County.They had four
children: (1) Mary M., (2) Nancy R, (3) Martha A., and (4) Thomas M.
Sorrelle.Mary Sorrelle married Andrew Jackson Harmon and their
children are: Leander, Lewella, John Edwin, Thomas A., M.A., Onie and
Bulah Harmon.Mary and children, M.A. and Orris and Bulah are buried
in the Cool Springs Cemetery here in Rusk County.Mary died August
10, 1900.Nancy & Sorrelle married Albert Sawyer and settled in Bell
County, Texas.Martha A. Sorrelle married Thomas Doyle and settled in
Mason County, Texas.Thomas M. Sorrelle was born 1859 and was last
living in Rusk County.Mary M. Vincent Sorrelle died sometime around
1860 or 1861.
Louisa A. Vincent was born about 1831 in Tennessee.She married
on December 5, 1854, in Harrison County, to William C. Davis.Louisa
and W.C. Davis made their home in Rusk County, about three miles south
of Henderson, where W.C. (a widower) already had a homestead.They
lived in a dog-trot log cabin that stood directly across from the
Davis Cemetery.Louisa and W.C. Davis had the following children:
James M. (Matt), William Abner, Susan Eudorah Emeline (Dora),
Jefferson D., Andrew Jackson, Martha L. and Mary F. Davis.Louisa
Vincent David died about 1874 and is buried in the Davis Cemetery.
Calvin Vincent, born about 1837, married Tabitha Ford on January 24,
1859.Their children are William and Jefferson Vincent.Calvin was
already deceased in the 1870's.
Abner P. Vincent Jr. was born about 1840.He joined Co. H, 7th
Texas Infantry and was killed on January 9, 1862 at Hopkinsville,
Susan P.W. Vincent was born about 1843.She married on February
28, 1870, Harrison Co. Texas to William H. Roden.He died and she
married in Rusk County, Texas on November 18, 1888, to V.C. Neeley.
She was living in 1910 in the household of Jack Harmon, her niece's
husband.Susan had no children and is believed to be buried in the
Neeley Cemetery, Rusk Co., Texas, in an unmarked grave.
James K. Polk (Jimmy) Vincent was born December 25, 1845.He
married in Rusk County, Texas on July 28, 1873, to Elizabeth (Lizzie)
Vinson.Their children are: Tom, Turner, John Robertson, Mattie,
Abner Shaw and Mack Vincent.Jimmy Vincent died May 4, 1924 and
Lizzie died June 27, 1924.They are buried in the Vinson Cemetery,
just out of Tatum.For more on their family see the J.K.P. Vincent

Sallie Vincent was born about 1852.She was 19 years old on the
1870 Census.She must have died shortly thereafter.Abner P. Vincent
died in 1872 and Susan died in 1874.When the Estate was settled,
E.J. Rogers was the Executor and Patience Rogers was assignee for
Susan and J.K.P. Vincent.Susan and Jimmy were the only children of
Abner and Susan Vincent that were still alive.Their estate consisted
of 240 acres of land in Harrison County, William Watson Survey,
seventeen head of cattle, stock hogs (number unknown) and one large
