Pyles When They (the Pyles clan) came to America,they were on a ship that was wrecked, they might have been kept at Ellise island for a while. I do not know which generation this was ? They settled somewhere in the east possibly Pennsylvania or Ohio,then migrated to Duquion,Perry county,Illinois. Andrew Jackson Pyles along with two unnamed uncles(They might have been twins). Moved from Perry county, Duquion Illinois to Booneville Arkansas some time around 1850 or 1859,One of the two uncles went on to some where in south east Texas, one uncle stayed with Andrew in Arkansas,back then there were Men the local'scalled bush whackers, the bush whackers killed Andrew's uncle. Andrew enlisted in the union army when he was 16 at Fort Smith Arkansas, and fought in the Civil War, after the war he married Matilda Elizabeth May (born 1857 in Logan county, Booneville Arkansas), Matilda's father was William May his wife might have been half or full blooded Cherokee from northern Georgia. (William Might have been born in or lived a while in Alabama) They had 4 boys > My Grandfather- William Odus born 1876, his brothers John Abner, Thomas M, and Ira Claud We have researched the Boss portion of the family to> HENRY THOMAS BOSS - came to America from Germany when he was 13 years of age.After arriving in America he learned to speak English.He later became a school teacher and had one of the books he taught printed in German.He enlisted twice in the Revolutionary War (which was between 1775 and 1783, when The American colonies won independence from England), and was present at the surrender.It was stated in a letter that the first Henry Boss that came over from Germany brought his broad ax, with the initials "HB" on it. He married Anna Catherine Ohler.Their family bible was written in Dutch, with more recent entries in English. They moved to Wilkes Co., Georgia, in early 1790's. Sireness Jackson Boss> my Great Grandfather, Had two rothers,one on each side during the civil war, One for the south one for the north. Sireness married Charllette Cathryn Mann, She Died in Barber Arkansas and is buried at Glendale cemetary near Boonville Arkansas. > Edmond Pickens (Cherokee Indian) my Great Grandfather was born around 1860 in the Indian territory, an area later known as Chickasaw County Oklahoma, he married Jane Shalot,they had 3 sons and one daughter. Nellie, Coleman, "Uncle Pick", Dewitt Talmage, My Grandfatherhe married Daisy Maybelle Overby,Edmond is buried in Monroe Oklahoma. Dewitt, And Daisy are burried in Rubideaux California. William Joseph Overby married Jane K Wood in cumming Georgia they had two daughters Lona and Daisy Maybell, my Grandmother.
