According to the notes of R.P. Archange Gorbout who examined the records of the parish of St. George, village of St. Lo, district of Contances in Normandy, France,
the name is written Leconte sieur de la Vimondiere.
Dr. LeClerc in his treatise,"The Medical Profession in Normandy" also used the same writing. According to him, this family was Huguenot (Protestant) and practiced the surgical profession.
Samuel Lecomte sieur de la Vimondiere, who went to Canada before 1695 and married at Chateau Richer, Quebec on 4-11-1695, claimed to practice the same profession. While, later, he's a merchant, that doesn't prove necessarily that he, completely, had abandon surgery.
