The Pacific Northwest Buckles-Radford FamilyUpdated December 14, 2000
|Our line of the Buckles family has been researched to the 1790s. The earliest Buckles we are related to is Robert Buckles born 20 May 1793 in Harper's Ferry, Berkeley County, Virginia. He died circa 1856 in Breckinridge, Illinois. He married Susannah Lucas circa 1842-1846 in Harper's Ferry, Berkeley County, Virginia. She was born 12 August 1822 in Ireland. She died 25 December 1914 in Christian County, Illinois.Susannah (Lucas) Buckles, after Robert Buckles' death, married his brother, Ephram Buckles. She gave children to, and outlived, both her husbands.Beside the two brothers Robert and Ephram, there was a third brother we know of: Aaron Buckles.|
Our Radford line has been researched to circa 1768. The earliest Radford/Redford we are related to is John Radford born about 1768 in either Virginia or England. He died 12 November 1855 in Lebanon, LaClede County, Missouri. His surname has been found to also be spelled "Redford" and it is wondered if his father's surname was spelled "Redford" as well.He married Virginia Ausborn in one of three places: Virginia, North Carolina, or Tennessee. She is believed to have died in Texas. We know John had the following brothers:Samual M., Jesse, William, and James. We know of no sisters. We believe John and Virginia (Ausborn)Radford had two children (there may have been more): John Craig and Becky (Rebecca?)Radford.Becky married Cyrus H. Bartlett.Little more is known about her.John Craig Radford, born 8 December 1860, married Mary May Clifton (aka Polly?).Since John Craig and Mary May (Clifton) Radford are in our direct line, we have collected a great deal more information about them. It will be made available on request.
Any information would be appreciated on either the Buckles or Radford/Redford lines (or any related lines. We will gladly share the information/sources we have.
