| Dear Family & Friends, Genealogy comes as an inspiration to me. The way my great great grandfather lived I can only use my imagination. Sometimes I think about how good we have it now and how good they thought they had it then is very much the same. Just knowing that our ancestors served in wars to protect our freedom like the soldiers today in Iraq protecting our freedom... I feel comfort in that and feel that every ancestor should be honored with all memories that the people in this world can cherish. Sometimes I close my eyes to visualize they way they would cut down trees to make a cabin, sit down to eat at a solid wood table with the wife of the house serving the family, or the way they would wash cclothes or put the babies to sleep. This is history, this is true lives, this is just amazing. The way I run my house today is nothing like 200 years ago. And at the end of the day I feel like a train hit me 20 times. But I don't wash clothes by hand, pick cotton, cook all day, cut logs for fire, chase after children, or worry about getting to town to buy what I need before sun down. I just throw the clothes in the wash then put them in the dryer, dust a bit, run the sweeper, change a few diapers, cook 3 meals, and go to bed. So my imagination runs wild as I research the ancestors who lived for us, fought for us, and some how saved us. I toast to them ... for giving us the head start we needed to live. In loving memory, Our Ancestors. |
