[Source="Justice-Thacker, a Pictorial History", written and compiled by Paul W. Chaney and Glen E. Adkins]: " William’s father, Simeon died in 1783 and he was appointed administrator of his estate.
William and Margaret began selling their property in Pittsylvania county around the turn of the century. On February 6, 1800 they sold 294 acres on Cherry Stone Creek. It sold for the sum of 75 pounds. They later sold their land holdings on the Pigg River and made ready to go west.
William and Margaret were accompanied by some of their children:George Sr. And his wife Nancy Smith Justice; Polly Justice and her husband James Slone, and Elizabeth justice and her husband David Polley.Sarah Justice and her husband Gabriel parsons also came along.
The party was made up of friends and neighbors who were eager to seek their fortune in the new land.
Three of William and Margaret's sons did not accompany them on the first trip. They were Simeon, Peyton and Ezra. They later followed their family to the Big Sandy Valley.Simeon and Ezra were married during this time. They both married sisters who were the daughters of Peter Abshire.Peyton remained single and did not marry until after he settled in Floyd County, Ky.
William Justice purchased a tract of land from Thomas Blackburn, Sr., On the Big Sandy River, on February 16, 1809.He and Margaret "Peggy" lived here the remainder of their lives, and became the direct ancestors of all the Pike County Justice clan.
There were two Justice families that were not directly related to the William Justice family. They were Thomas Justice and Gilmore Justice. The authors felt that Thomas was descended from John Justice who had previously settled farther down river in Floyd county.Gilmore Justice gave his place of birth as Logan County, West Virginia."
