|My ancestors came mostly from Kentucky, both Reeds and Mays.I am primarily looking for the Cherokee wife of James Manafee Reed and her mother, also Cherokee. They escaped from the Trail of Tears and the mother worked as a housekeeper (possibly for James Mannafee Reed's father). James Mannafee had a son, James Mannafee, Jr., a daughter, Nellie, and a younger son, Wiley Jehue (or Jayhugh, or James). Wiley Jehue was referred to by everyone as "Dot". He married Charity Marley Rippey. They became the parents of Effie (Hasset(t), Luther, Arthur James (my grandafather), Wiley, Jr., Chester, William (Willie)Thomas, all born in Richmond, MO, and Grace Marley, Cecil Hyacinth and Margaret, all born in Blue Jacket. OK.|
The Mays are Nancy Jane Easley and David Allan May and their descendents. Nancy Jane Easley moved at age 4 during the Civil War to be raised by her sister, Fanny (Mrs. Morris Mann), in Fort Scott, Kansas but moved to KC, MO when she married.
I will be grateful for any information and will gladly exchange what I have.
