William Reade (abt. 1605-abt. 1650) settled in Weymouth, Massachusetts.His wife was Avis Deacon.They had nine children: Margaret, Hannah, William, Esther, Ruth, Thomas, Mary, John and James.
James Reed (abt. 1650-July 21, 1726).James married Susanna Richmond on April 18, 1683.Born in November of 1661 at Bridgewater, she was the daughter of John Richmond.She died on August 18, 1725, just a year before James.Like William and Avis, they had nine children: James, William, John, Thomas, Mary, Martha, Ann, Susanna and Benjamin.
William Reed (May 1, 1685-?).He married Elizabeth (last name unknown) of Middleborough, Massachusetts.William Reed and Elizabeth, or possibly William, Elizabeth and a second wife, had the following children:William, Hannah, Benjamin, Thomas, Jonathan, Peter, a son who died in 26 days, John, Samuel, Deliverance, Mercy, Ichabod, Thankful, Anna, a daughter who died at three months and Mercy.
William Reed (July 18, 1715-abt 1764 or later).He married Sarah Warren, a great-granddaughter of a Mayflower passenger, Richard Warren.He was a signer of the Mayflower Compact and one of just nineteen pilgrims to survive that first winter in Plymouth.William and Sarah were the parents of eight children: Priscilla, William, Benjamin, Sarah, Elizabeth, Israel, Elizabeth and Abner.
Benjamin Reed (January 29, 1746-abt. 1791 or later).Benjamin Reed married “Mrs. Abiah Macomber" of Middleborough, on October 13, 1768 at Taunton, Massachusetts.Benjamin and Abiah were the parents of Benjamin Jr., Sarah, John, Warren, Gideon, James, Abiah, Simeon and Levi.The only two girls of those nine children, Sarah and Abiah, married brothers Lorenzo Cunningham and Hugh Cunningham, M.D.
Benjamin Reed, Jr. (abt. 1764-April 19, 1818).He and Anna Chubbick produced eleven children:Sally, Lucy, Stillman, Oliver, Deborah, Levi, Betsy, twin boys Hiram and Lyman, Owen (called Joseph), and Benjamin.Of his thirteen children, at least two moved to New Hampshire, maybe three moved to the Michigan area, and at least one went to Vermont.Sally Polly Danforth may have been a second wife to Benjamin Reed, Jr. and they may have had two children, William and Allen.
Levi Reed (1802-April 14, 1870).Married Charlotte Burt in Walpole, New Hampshire. There were four children from Levi and Charlotte: Charlotte E., Levi J., Benjamin B. and Lucy S.Levi had a second wife, Polly Ann Burrows.Polly was born either in Essex County, New York, or someplace in Vermont.Eli Stillman Reed, Nancy Lorena Reed, Russell Reed, Malinda Reed and Polly M. Reed were offspring of Levi and Polly.
Eli Stillman Reed (April 14, 1842-January 17, 1889).Eli married Maria Jane Auringer from Brewerton, New York.They had nine children: Clara Adelle, Cora Belle, John Alvin, Mary Ann, Vinnie Armena, Lucinda “Lulu” Almeda, Earl Ambrose, Armena R. and George Emery “Elmer” Reed.All of them were born in Plainville except for Cora, who was supposedly born in Delta County, Michigan.
John Alvin Reed (February 7, 1871-May 18, 1937).He and Olive Maude Thomas had three children:Etta May, Leon J., and John Clayton.
