Recollections of the Oldest Son of the Oldest Son of Reuben Godfrey Reeves Reuben Godfrey Reeves was born in Seaville, New Jersey in the summer of 1879. His mother, Ada, is buried in the cemetery of the Quaker Meeting House in Seaville. It is the oldest Quaker church in America. Her death was in 1887 when Reuben was eight years old. Her family name was Baner. My name is Thomas Troth Reeves, Jr. and I was born May 9th, 1945 at Underwood Hospital in Woodbury, New Jersey. My immediate family includes three brothers, James, Richard, Robert and three sisters, Rita, Elizabeth and Mary, and our parents are Thomas and Catherine. Our family is just one small part of the descendency of Reuben and Elsie Reeves, our grandparents. I am most concerned with researching the descendents of Reuben Godfrey Reeves and Elsie Ruth Daley, most of whom are still living, but would like verifiable information about their ancestors. Of great concern, also, is my mother's family, her father being Vincenzo Battaglia, who came to the United states in 1902 to New York City, served in the U.S. Army during World War I, went back to Reggio, Calabria, Italy and married my Grandmother, Olivia. In 1928 they came to America and settled in Paulsboro, New Jersey, where they raised a family of five daughters and one son. Our family is living mostly in New Jersey, but has spread to every state on the Eastern coast of the U. S. This is my first attempt at researching our family history, but has already proved to be rewarding and fruitful. I can be emailed at [email protected] for detailed history of myaunts, uncles and cousins. Currently my residence is in Unionville, Connecticut | |
