In August of 1862, at Middle Creek, MN., most of the members of a branch of the Reyff family were massacred in the Sioux Indian uprising. I am a decendant of the lone male survivor, Eusebius.Through research thus far, we have discovered that the spelling of our surname has been changed to several varations by members of the immigrating family.
RYF, RYFF, and even RIF seem to be possible variations used by members of the 'original' family who emmigrated from the
Bazil - Bern area of Switzerland between 1840 and 1850.
If you have any information about the family or branches, please
contact me!I'll be happy to share any info I have.
