This page concerns the central New England families of RHODES, ALEXANDER, HOLTON, LEROY, ADAMS, SINNERY and many other relations. Many of my ancestors were born in Massachusetts or Maine, with their forebears almost certainly from England and Canada. The Alexanders and Holtons were early settlers of Northfield, MA, in the Connecticut River Valley. The Rhodes line seems to have originally settled in Maine but soon moved south to the greater Worcester, MA area. The Leroys migrated from Canada and settled in the Shrewsbury, MA "suburb" of Worcester.
The earliest confirmed birth date I have in my records is 1819. However, there are many people, especially in the Rhodes family and in the Northfield Alexanders, whose birth dates would pre-date 1819 but I've yet to make that big breakthrough to earlier times. A major event did happen just recently, though, when I was contacted through this site by second cousins once removed. Doing research of their own, they discovered that Cassimere Leroy is a common ancestor and we are in fact descendents of two of Cassimere's sons, Edward Francis and Leander Cassimere. The discovery led to a person-to-person meeting and exchange of old photographs in May 1999. We now have each established living links to seperate lineages descending from one man.
My name count now stands at 615 as of November 05, 1999, with more to add. I have submitted my file to the World Family Tree Project and I look forward to hearing from any family member that may have contributing information he or she wishes to share. Please feel free to E-Mail me.
