My great great grandfather was Elisha Rhoton (who married Nancy Evaline Gaw)from Tompkinsville, Kentucky, born 1828. On this side of the family, many of them live in the area of Cookeville, Tennessee. I have been told that my great, great grandmother (Nancy Gaw)was full blooded Cherokee Indian and would like to find out about any American Indian heritage. I have a photo of her and my GGGrandfather (see attachment). I have two brothers and one sister alive, one sister and parents are deceased. My goal is to complete as much of our family history as possible to pass on to my children. On my mothers side, my GGGGGfather was James Davis born about 1759 (who married Mary, last name unknown). They were from Knox County, Tennessee. On this side of the family, many live in the area of Winfield, Tennessee (where I was born). Would like to receive any information and photos on either side of my family. Also interested in the knowing about any family that served in the Civil War. I have since found out that my GGGGGfather Eli Rhoton was a Union Private from 24 Sept 1861 to 15 Dec 1864and served with Distinguished Service. He joined the Union Army when he was 61. His wife was Melinda McClelland.
