I am researching the origins of the Rip family.
Our branch of North American Rips came from the Netherlands in the immigration of Pieter Rip, 1910. His family came to the Netherlands, settling in Zuid Holland, from Schwicheldt, Germany around 1742. The German name was Reupken, and changed to various Dutch sounding forms after they moved, including Ripke, Ruypke, Rip.
Another name I'm particularly interested in is de Groot stemming from Hugo Grotius (Hugh de Groot)the Dutch statesman from the early 1600's. If you have information regarding his children and grandchildren, I would greatly appreciate your contacting me.
Other names of interest here are: Zylstra, Post, Baas, Mulder, de Boer, Lefers.
