Abstract of Will:
I Christopher Threlkeld of Paris of Brunswick in county of King George.....my desire that my Dear and Loving wife Susana Threlkeld have and enjoy my dwelling Plantation and all my other estate during the term of her natural life & after her decease I give the same as follows..
to my son Henry Threlkeld one Negro boy ..my Rifle gun;
to my son John Threlkeld one Negro woman..my old gun;
to my son Moses one Negro man..also the plantation whereon I now live during the continuance of the Lease;
to my son Thomas Threlkeld one negro man;to my son Elijah Threlkeld one Negro wench;
to my daughter Susanah Threlkeld one negro girl; To my son Thomas my little gun..
the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between all my children share and share alike..
appoint my living wife Susanah Threlkeld & my loving sons Henry, John and Moses executors.. this 19th day of October 1756.

Notes for Henry Threlkeld: [marykl.ged] On June 2, 1768, Henry was granted 405 acres of land, for rent, in Culpeper County, Virginia by Thomas Lord Fairfax, "Baron of Cameron". Henry was to have the use of this sandy land in "Gooney Hollows" in exchange for one shilling for each 50 acres, on an annual basis.This original documentary is in the Virginia Historical Society Library". He did not leave a will.John his son was named Administrator.His brother Thomas Threlkeld was guardian to two daughters, Mary and Rachael, probably the youngest two children.At the sale of his estate on November 3, 1775, purchasers included John Threlkeld, Miss Sarah Threlkeld, and Mary Threlkeld. His son John sold the 405 acres on March 17, 1777 to James Ballinger for sixty pounds."Being a patent grant to Henry Threlkeld bearing the date of June 2, 1768".Note the above land was considered for rent and here it is considered a grant. |

They moved to Mercer county, Kentucky, in 1786, living for awhile at Fort Harrad.Then, they settled on 176 acres near the present village of Bohon in Mercer county, Kentucky.Will probated in Mercer county, Kentucky in 1802. |

Leg: wife: Nellie Threlkeld. Appraisement: April 1790:Book 1 Page 79 Apprs:Peter Casey, George Buchanan, Robert McAfee, Daniel Ashby. Thomas Threlkeld died childless according to his will, but his wife gave birth about six months after his death. Also in his will, but not assigned parents yet are Daniel Threlkeld McConkey. They were in Stafford County in 1777, in Culpeper in 1778 and 1782, and Mercer Co., Kentucky in 1786. Appointed as Ensign to Captain Elias Fisher.Order dated 22 April, 1788.Order Book Mercer County, Kentucky. Recorded in Culpeper Co.,Virginia court February 16, 1789. Order Book, Mercer County, Kentucky Order:Dated April 22, 1788 "Ordered that Elias Fisher, Gentleman, be recommended to his Excellency, the Governor, as a proper person to be commissioned a Captain of the Militia in the County, John Davis, Gentleman, his Lieutenant and Thomas Threlkeld his Ensign. He was probably selected to be Ensign because of his Revolutionary Service. He apparently died [killed in action] in the Illinois Territory in the Harmar Campaign against hostile Indians. |
