There has been much confusion about the origin of our Robertson's.I have to admit that I, myself, have been seduced by some of the fantastic information that abounds concerning the the lineage of Thomas Robertson (b. 1764) of Grainger County, TN, the lineage of Richard Robertson (b. 1770-1780) of Hawkins and Hamblen Counties, TN, and the lineage of Hezekiah Robertson (b. 1783) of Grainger Co., TN and Limestone County, AL.As an intutive researcher, I would have to lean toward the theory that these are brothers but without documentation, that's all it is, a theory. The extension of this theory is that Thomas and Richard hailed from Northampton County, NC and that their Father, Jonathan Robertson was born in the Ulster Region of Ireland.According to one researcher who submitted his information to LDS, Jonathan arrived with his Father, William in the year 1746; just 6 years after he was born.To my knowledge, there has yet to be any evidence supporting this information.I leave it in my tree with the notation that "it is not yet proven" simply because I believe that somewhere, someone may have seen evidence. Although I don't have that available to me now, my hope is that someone else out there might.I won't hide it from what I make public, but I won't support it as fact either. Here is what is true and factual: My Great Great Grandfather, Hezekiah Robertson moved from Hawkins Co., TN to Logan Co., KY before 1844 and married Sarah Ann Harper, which led to many generations of Robertson's in that county.Families related to the Robertson's of Logan Co. are: Grayson, Hunt, Harper, Eddy, Bilyeu and Savage. Also related to the Robertson family is: Ford, Mitchell and Threlkel/Threkeld/de Threlkeld. On this page, you will also find research of the descendants of James Gilmore, which is my Mother's line.James was born in Scotland and migrated to the Ulster Plantation in Northern Ireland. He migrated again to Charleston, SC in 1772 aboard a ship within the fleet led by Rev. William Martin.Families that arrived with the Gilmore's on that voyage and married into the family were: Copeland, Stephenson, McKnight, and McLelland.Other families related to the Gilmore's are: Yielding, Murphree, Allred, Asenath, McMillan, Rodgers, Freeman and West. The continental migration of the Gilmore family begins in Charleston and Spartenburg District, SC, on to Blount Co., AL and Logan Co., KY, then with the outset of "Texas Fever," the family appears in Ellis, Fisher, Scurry, Harrison, Hunt and Grayson Counties in Texas. The Family Tree and surname index on this site contains only the Robertson and Gilmore families mentioned above.Within the descendant charts below, I've included some of the information relating to my husband's families: Barnes, Lanham, Harris, Brown, Daugherty, Dawson and Dennis. The migration of some of these families began in England, Holland and Ireland; into the Atlantic States between 1610 and 1740; ultimately settling on to the Alabama Frontier. I have almost 10,000 names in the entire tree.FTM only allows for 2,000.If you would like further information about a family that is linked here, please contact me at the email address above. Before you leave here, please check out my extensive photo section and links to sites related to all of these families. Happy Hunting! Brenda
