|Although some of the Brittain/Ryals ancestors lived very early in DE, MD, PA, OH, VA, NC, SC, and IN, they were the typical pioneer types and never stayed in one place very long. By the 1850s most were living in GA, AL, MS, TN, KY, MO, and AR -- the farthest north was in southern IL and one slow starting family was still back in NC.|
Many of the BRITTAIN bunch finally put down roots in the Ozark Mountains of MO and AR -- some of them after lingering a while rolled on across the plains to CA, WA, and OR or moved to TX and OK. The RYALS bunch scattered from AL and MS into AR, TX, OK and beyond.
In the 25 years since I was infected with the genealogy bug, many family members have generously shared information with me. Without their help none of this would have been possible. I have attempted to acknowledge each one's contributions in the source notes included in each report. My heartfelt THANKS! to each and everyone of you.
