|Genealogy is defined as the study, record or table of the descent of a person, family, or group from an ancestor or ancestors. I have been researching my family history for many years and with the help of many other people, I've compiled a large amount of information on my ancestors and relatives.|
I've tried to make sure the information in my database is as accurate as possible, but keep in mind that this is a work in progress. I am continually updating my records with new information as I receive it. Where I have two or more conflicting facts I have noted the conflicting information and the sources where I obtained the information. If anyone finds any missing, inaccurate, or conflicting information no matter how insignificant, I would appreciate them letting me know so that I can update my database.
Some of the information in my database has been privatized for living individuals. If there is data (i.e. your birth date) that you want privatized and hasn't been, please let me know.
Aaron Seekins b. 1690 in Cambridgeshire, England, is the earliest Seekins that I have been able to find, and the Seekins family has the distinction of being related to two presidents: Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Pierce. In my research I have also found that the Seekins are also related to President George Herbert Walker Bush and George Walker Bush, through Barbara (Pierce) Bush, who is related to President Franklin Pierce.
In 1970, Paul O. Seekins of Ohio published the Seekins Genealogy, however, some families were omitted because connections were lost. I have been trying to locate all families and connections so that I may have a complete family history.
I am also trying to locate information on whether a Seekins Coat of Arms exists. We are most likely descendants of just some common hard working folks who decided to venture to the Americas and there is no Coat of Arms. In fact I find this to be a more plausible scenario since there is very little information about the Seekins in Cambridgeshire. One would think if the family did have a Coat of Arms and was more prominent there would be some records remaining.
One last thing I have been searching for is a copy of the Seekins Book by Paul Orville Seekins. I realize that this book cannot be purchased, and very few people actually have a copy of it. A few libraries have copies as well. I basically just want to see it and get some information out of it, especially the preface and introduction, and any photos or maps, that is if this book includes any of this.
Other families I am researching are: Conant, Wentworth, Miller, Grant, Debeck and Downs. Other genealogy projects I am working on are: Genealogy of the Bible and The Tree of Life.
Any comments and/or suggestions are always welcome.
