|I am researching the Shafer (Shaffer)(Schaffer) Family of Austria/Germany that arrived in the United States at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania September 24th 1751 on the ship Neptune He is listed as Conrad Schaffer and with him is Johan Bernhard Schaffer and Johan Georg Schafer, they Sailed fron Rotterdam the Netherlands,Family papers say Conrad lived in Pennsylvania and fought in the Revolutionary war. It is also thought that they fought in the French and Indian war of 1755. However I can find no proof that they served in either the Rev. war or the French and Indian war, they were also thought to live in Maryland and owned land in Maryland, but I am still researching the records.Conrad sr. lived in Pennsylvania until about 1790, then moved to louden co. Va. Conrad Sr. of Louden County Virginia owned a plantation and His Son ConradShafer |
Jr. born in Pa. in 1771,and moved to Va. after 1790 he is listed in German reformed lutheran church records there, and voted in the first presidential election then moved to Va. and is listed as a merchant in leesburg and in 1813 was drafted andfought in the war of 1812, there are pay vouchers to back this up and land grants for land in Ohio. Also Conrad Sr.is listed as having a middle name of (Bill) this (Bill)was inserted from his will the clerk at the time used to write in the margin of wills Conrad Will of Shafer only the old script writing looks like it reads Conrad ( Bill ) Shaffer now we have to look at records carefully because there is no Conrad (Bill ) Shaffer, Just Conrad Shaffer Sr.Any one with more Information,or in need of information is encouraged to contact us email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
