Otis Issac Shelley Jr., 75, of Perry, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in
Perry Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Sumner Baptist Church. The
Rev. Albert Quick will officiate. There will be a private family
committal. Services will be under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral
Home of Perry, Oklahoma.
He was born Dec. 24, 1928, at Oilton. He served in the United States
Army from March 19, 1946 until Sept. 18, 1946, and received the World
War II Victory Medal. He and the former Jeanette Roberta Creacy were
married June 9, 1950, in Oilton.
He worked as a telephone specialist before retiring from Southwestern
Bell Telephone in 1985 after 38 years of employment. He and his family
lived in Pawnee prior to moving to Perry in 1952. He was a member of the
Sumner Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was a loving husband,
father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Issac and Helen (Cogburn)
Shelley; one brother, James Samuel ?Son? Shelley and three sisters,
Odessa Marie Shelley, Pauline Lillian McKnight and Lucille McKnight.
In addition to his wife, survivors are two sons, Randall Bruce Shelley
of Perry and Terry Wayne Shelley and daughter-in-law, Becky, of Grove;
one daughter, Rhonda Lynn Harryman and son-in-law, Gil W. Harryman, of
Edmond; one brother, Kenneth Wayne Shelley of Lindsay; two sisters,
Virginia Shelley Kidder of Pawhuska and June Shelley Burnett of
Stillwater; and three grandchildren, Christopher Michael Shelley of
Waco, Texas, Ashley Nicole Shelley of Grove and Roberta Ann Shelley of
Florida.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edmond Baptist Boys Ranch or
Sumner Baptist Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
