Estate division was contested on 2 January 1865 by Daniel & Elizabeth Hunt, John & Jane Tubbs plaintiff vs Gersham Hunt, John Hunt, Alexander Hunt, Dock W. Hunt, L.B. Hunt, Stewart P. Hunt, Newton & Hannah Steward, William & Rebecca Murrey, John & Melissa Agee, defendants, at Smith Co, TN County Court.It states that a publication was made in the Nashville Union, a newspaper publication in Nashville Tennessee for more than 4 weeks prior to the court term notifying all heirs & alledged legatees of Abel Hunt deceased to appear for the purpose of proportioning and appraising for probate & reviewing the last will & testament of Abel Hunt bearing a date [left blank].
1800 Rowan Co, NC Census records show : Abel, Andrew, Charles, 3xDaniel, David, Enoch, 3xGersham, John, Jonathan & Nathan.2 Gershams listed as SR & JR.
May 1821 Term, Smith Co, TN County Court, Hunt, Wynn & Parrish vs B&J Shaw and James Alexander on a debt claim.The first names of the plaintiffs are not recorded in the records.
1826 Deed from Jesse C. Elston for 100 acres of land on Hickman Creek in Smith Co, TN in the amount of $255.Bound by Capt William Ferebas(?), Jesse C. Elston, B. M. Davis, Capt Mullens(?).George Oakley & John Hunt witnessed the deed.
In 1830, Abel C. has a male, 90-100 living with him -- b. 1730-1740!!!This would be, most probably, a Hunt or Bell, either a father or grandfather.Also, in 1830, 5 males are age 1820-1825, of which one must have died as Abel's estate settlement accounts for only 4 of the 5.Also, 2 males are age 1825-1830, but only 1 of 2 is accounted for in the estate.It is believed that they must have died young.Also, 1 female is 10-15 (b. 1816-1820) based on marriage record) and 1 female is 0-5 (b. 1825-1830) may account for 2 of the 4 females in the estate settlement, but we have to determine the age of the known daughters first.

There appear to be four Hunts of pre-1775 North Carolina : John, Matthew, James & Thomas.
By 1830, only Abel C. & Archibald Hunt remain in Smith Co, TN.In Wilson Co, TN, there are Ann, Benjamin, Briton, Henry, James, Jesh (Josh?), John, Matthew, Samuel, & 2 Thomas'
The Thomas in 1820 Wilson Co, TN died leaving an estate record (he was father of the John in Wilson).Matthew died in Rutherford Co, TN in 1827 & left a will.James of Wilson is either off the Franklin / Nash Co, NC group or is from Halifax Co, VA.
The Matthew is of Rutherford Co, TN 1810 & of 1820 Smith Co, TN & dies in Rutherford.The 1830 Matthew is a son of the old Thomas, father of the John Hunt who m. Jane Moore in Wilson Co, TN.
It is believed that John 'Thomas' Hunt SR in Crittenden w/John Hunt JR are cousins, and approximately 1 generation removed age-wise.Some of the stories handed down in Crittenden Co. through the Hunt and Paris lines have John Thomas Hunt & John Hunt being uncle & nephew, thus John Thomas & Abel would be brothers.Not inconceivable, and this would indicate a father born before ca1765.Possibly Gersham Hunt, son of Dr. Daniel of Rowan Co, NC.Abel has a male 90-100 with him in 1830.....
Deed of 20 July 1847, Abel Hunt (without Elizabeth cosigning), for $600, sold to Frances Dowell & James F. Patterson, 100 acres on Hickman's Creek bound by Samuel Paschel's west boundary, Eliel Elston's southwest corner, Benjamin Davis' east, ___ Turner's north boundary line.Witnessed by Louis Nashburn, John (x) Hunt and John Dedmand.
Deed of 26 Dec 1849, Elijah Scott sold to Abel & John Hunt, for $430, a tract with the mill and parcel of land on the waters of Hickman's Creek, it being the mills between Benjamin Coats & Stuart Doss.Witnessed by J.T. Hollis & J. James.
1850 census has two Jane's in his household, one 14 & one 11.
In 1860, John C., Malissa F. & their son William Agee are living with him.

| Notes for JOHN TUBBS: To DeKalb Co, TN after her marriage. DeKalb Estate Settlement Records: pg 92-99. 20 Oct 1848. To Thomas Leek, guardian of Elizabeth, Littleberry, George w. and William H. Allen, infant children of William H. Allen, dec'd late of DeKalb County. Walter p. MacFarland has moved to Marshall County, Alabama and has been appointed guradian of said minors by the Judge of the Orphans Court of that county. He petitions the court of DeKalb county to remove the personal property of the infant children from Tennessee to Alabama. 10 Oct 1848. John B. Tubb, a witness was introduced and produced by this that the property which is in dispute in which defendent is in possession as guardian of same heirs mentioned in said exemplification of a record is still undivided, that no division of the same has ever been had and that said John G. Tubb married Nancy Allen, one of said heirs, a ward of said defendent, and tht said Nancy is dead, that by virtue of said marriage and as her administrator, he claims all of the interest of his said wife is said personal estate remaining in hte hands of the defendant as guardian. George W. Allen, a witness proved that it would be to the interest of said nonresident minors for the property to be removed to Alabama. The court was of opinion that the property should be divided up by the guardian Leek. pg 62. 21 Feb 1855. In this cause of John W. Bass, administrator and others, heirs at law of Rachel Bass, dec'd, petition to sell land. Received of Exekiel Bass for himself and as guardian of Thomas and Elizabeth Bass, $384.00 as distributees at law of Archibald Mc. Bass and Rachel Bass, dec'd--$100.00 as part of my distributive share of the proceeds of the minors Thomas and Elizabeth Bass. Signes E.W. Bass, guardian. pg 64. 30 Dec 1854. "We the undersigned heirs of Rachell Bass, dec'd agree to make the following settlement and compromise (viz) we agree that our advancements are all equal except James Tubb and wife and Daulphin Bass, the said Tubb has been advanced to the amount of $12.50 over and above the ballance of the heirs and I, the said Ezekiel Bass for the minors agree that the minors have been advanced equal to the ballance and take the responsibility as their guardian to order the negro property or proceeds arising from the same to be divided upon the above basis.
