| || Notes for Daniel Schuy:|
Youngest son of Johannes, named for his grandfather.Inherited family farm upon Johannes' death in 1816, lost it to a sheriff's deed in August of 1825. Several of Johannes's heirs brought suit against Daniel and David Ferguson, the attorney that drafted Johannes' will, as executors for Johannes' estate.
In "The History of the Shuey Family in America", D.B. Shuey claimed all of Daniel's children except John were born in Schuykill Co.However, beginning in 1796, Daniel's name appears on the tax rolls of West Hanover Twp in Dauphin Co...replacing Johannes.From this we infer that Johannes had "retired" and handed over the day to day operation of the farm to Daniel.Furthermore, in his will, Johannes states "...I Leave to My Son Daniel with whom I now Live...".In as much as his will was filed in Dauphin Co, we can assume he and Daniel were living on the West Hanover farm at the time of his death in 1816.Therefore, at least from 1796 through 1816, Daniel lived in Daupin Co and any children born during this time would have been born there as well.
