Kate meet John Paul Beanland while teaching school near Versailles, MO. They first lived near Versailles, MO where their first two children Glover and Ted were born. They later moved near Clinton, MO, where Lynn was born,. They later moved to the home of John William Taylor and Nannie Nash Taylor; where Anna was born.
After John William Taylor died, Kate was employed by the company here father worked for, Farmer's Mutual Insurance Co, Clinton, MO. She was an insurance adjuster, traveling by horse and buggy, in Henry County, MO.
When the children were young, John Paul and Kate seperated. They were never divorced. John Paul took Ted and Glover with him to Barnett, MO. Several months later he brought Ted and Glover to Clinton, MO. On a Saturday when Kate was working at teh Insruance COmpany. He wanted his wife to bring Lynn and Anna to Clinto to see him. They did not go. Anna was sent to Aunt Mattie Price's home to do her chores, carrying in wooe and chips for a cookie. Anna did see her father once when he came to Clinton. John Paul tried to get Lynn to go home with him, by Lynn did not want to go so he ran to a neighbor's hours. Ella and Uncle Frank Williams (the preachers house. The first time John Paul came to Clinton, Glover got away from him in Clinton. John Paul lived at Barnett MO until his death in 1918 with his son Ted. Ted married Minnie Josephine Bookout, in Oklahoma City, OK in 2-17-1911. They lived at Barnett, MO, with Ted's father and after the father's death, Ted and Minjie moved to Eldon, MO.
John Paul was excessively sensitive to his wif'es pregancies and childbirth. He had the "morning sickness" His wife had none. When the babies were due, he would leave home for several weeks. He liked to drink and gamble. Kate would smile when telling Maude Taylor Roth about his frolics. She said he generally was lucky when gambling and brought her gifts won in gambling, and was most apologetic on his return home. She particularly liked some goldstone jewelry, a broach and ear rings, he once won. This may have been when he returned home after Lynn's birth, as he was not home at the time, and Glover walked several miles to get a midwife, Mattie Maloney, who delivered Lynn. After Lynn's birth, John Willaim Taylor and Nannie Nash Taylor had the Beanland family move to their house, where Anna was born.
In January 1911, Kate sold the John William Taylor home and farmland near Clinton, MO and moved to Kansas City, MO, 18th & Penn, with Glover, Lynn and Anna. In 1918, when Glover, Lynn and James went into the service, Kate went to work for "The Daily Drover's Telegram, " a newspaper for livestock raisers. She wrote "The Woman's Page," Advice to the Lovelorn, recipes, etc and got the market reports each day. She enjoyed this work very much.
Kate and her brother, Dr Ted Taylor, were very fond of one another and were a great help to one another in raising their children. Dr Taylor was a great source of strenght to his sister. After the deat of Dr. Taylor's wife, Emma Kirk Tylor, in 1912, the five Taylor children lived with the Beanland's during the school [year].
