|The ongoing research into the many branches of my family, The Spenceleys, originating in Pickering and ending up in Hull, and the others found whilst researching.|
Mainly centering around My father and his three brothers, Thomas, Charles, Robert (my father) and Eric Spenceley, it extends to their partners, ancesters and offspring.
Any help with the ongoing research into the ever growing tree, or any interest in the various branches, would be most welcome and appreciated, and I am most willing to share any information I have.
The Spenceley family name originated in Fife in Scotland around the time of the Domesday Book, although earliest documented findings are of landowners in Aldbrough St John, a village near Durham, in the twelfth and thirteenth century. They were present as property owners and landlords continuously until that particular line ran out in the early 1900's. They spread throughout Yorkshire; my section, documented here, being one small branch.
Ancient family crest, a rampant red lion with a black border.
