|Heinrich Frederich Jacob Knieff - Born 6 December 1822, Hamburg, Germany to Claus Knieff and Anna M. Facklam (2nd wife).He had a half sister named Caroline, her mother was Susanna Marie Seband.Caroline married F. W. Nikoll.Caroline lived in New Orleans, Louisiana during the Civil War, she had at least 4 Children; F.W. Jr., Adolph, August and Herman.Little else is known of her or her family.We wish to contact anyone who may have further information.|
Heinrich Frederich Jacob Knieff was married to Dorthea Schlaffer.They had 8 children; Carroline, Edward, Johannas (John), Bertha, Augusta, Emma, Molly and Dolly.His second wife, Louise Wasserzieher (Parents: Eduardo Wasserzieher and Ottillie Wilhemina Neitzert of Nauvoo, Illinois) had four sons; Max, Arthur, Oskar and Hugo.
Heinrich moved to the United States in the early 1840's possibly.He was a tinsmith, farmer and artist for the US government during the civil war.
Walter Borden, born about 1866, and Ida Mae Lester, born about 1874, met and were married in 1890 in Harbor Beach or Bad Axe, Michigan sometime shortly after he moved there from Pennsylvania.
Walter is the son of Maris or Maria (Maule) Borden and David or Daniel Borden.His father was killed in Pennsylvania during a brawl in a bar after he had insulted a bar maid.His mother remarried, to a VanWay, and they left for Washington state, leaving Walter in the care of Maris/Maria's mother, Sabrina (Granger) Maule and her husband, Andrew Buchanan Maule.
Sabrina's sister Polly and Andrew's brother, James, were married to each other.
James and Andrew were from Scotland and had been raised by their mother's brother, Lord Buchanan.The Maule's moved from Scotland, to Pennsylvania and some of the family went on to settle in Minnesota.
Ida Mae Lester had two sisters (known), Evelyn and Henrietta, and a brother Will.One of the sisters was to have married a Lincoln.
Walter and Ida Mae had three children (Cora-1882, Angie-1884, Henrietta-1886-).They moved to Minnesota in 1886.About two or four years later, Ida Mae was pregnant again after being advised to never have any more children, it was dangerous to her health.She was diagnosed with an abdominal tumor.At some point late in the pregnancy, she had severe problems and had to be taken to a doctor or hospital.When Walter returned, he informed everyone that Ida Mae had died as well as the child.He stated that he had donated the bodies to the hospital for scientific study to pay for the medical bills.He had often spoke of how he hated the Catholics and their hospital.It was assumed that is where Ida had died.He never clarified any facts concerning her death.It is also speculated that she may have died en-route to get medical care and he buried her alongside t heroad.They had been living north of Brainard, Minnesota at the time all this happened.There has been extensive searches for any information on her existence and death and none has been found.
Walter Wallace Specht was born to Polish immigrants, Frank and Veronica Specht/Speck/Szpeck (spelling was changed several times by parents and children) in 1911. Frank and Veronica had four other children; Louie, Sonia, Mamie, andJulie.They all resided in New Jersey around the early to mid 1900's.
Walter marriedJean Malinoff (born 1920), daughter of Russian immigrants, Joseph and Mary Malinoff.Jean had stated before she died that her parents had two other children that were about 20 years older than her.She never did give there names.Joseph and Mary died when Jean was in her early 20's.It was said that Joseph was a stow-a-way on a ship to America and jumped ship just before it landed.He supposedly changed his name after arriving in America.
