We are researching the Spinks family from Kemper County, MS.John M. Spinks is my great-great-grandfather.He married Margaret Kelly in 1818 and they had nine children: Mary Eliza (b. July 11, 1819), Peter Early (b. June 19, 1821), Presley N. (b. March 17, 1823), Jane C. (b. September 30, 1824), Margaret A. (b. August 10, 1826), Sarah M. (b. September 07, 1829), John Clark , my great-grandfather, (b. August 26, 1832), RaleighW. (b. May 11, 1833), and Enoch Ephriam (b. October 07, 1835).
John Clark Spinks married Laura Victoria Hand (b. April 1840) on April 18, 1866 in Kemper County.They had seven children:Enoch Gilmore (b. February 03, 1867), Bertha (b. October 11, 1868 - died in infancy), Sherrid (b. February 12, 1870 - died in infancy), John Presley (b. July 31, 1872), Mary Hand (b. February 12, 1874), Thomas Manly (b. December 07, 1875), and Peter Early (b. October 31, 1877).
The Edmiston link is from my maternal grand-mother, Ione Josephine Edmiston (b. November 07, 1875).She married my Grandfather, Thomas Manly Spinks in Cotulla', La Salle, Texas, June 18, 1902.
In addition, we are researching the Hebert/Zirlott families of my wife Winona (Hebert).They are originally from the southern Alabama/Mississippi areas.
We are interested in any information on the Spinks/Edmiston and Hebert/Zirlott lines.Any help would be appreciated. We are also willing to share the information that we have.
