|His name was Isaac Starling. His was the seed of a thousand Starling cousins scattered across America. He first appeared in Accomack County Virginia in 1663, presumably as an adult, where he is listed as one of 26 new immigrants who traded their headright of 50 acres of land for transportation to the new world. He was a citizen of England. There is no certain evidence that this Isaac is the American patriarch of this family line. The certainty occurs with a later Isaac, born in 1695, who is assumed by many Starling researchers to be the son of the earlier Isaac.I believe that this might not be the case. There is at least one document that refers to the younger Isaac as Jr.In the 1600s Jr. did not necessarily mean Son of, with the same name.It merely meant that there was a younger person in the same area with the same name.It is possible that there is another generation between the two Isaacs.|
The first known Starling in the new world was William Starling, age 18, who arrived in Virginia in 1635 on a ship called Primrose.I have recently found that there were several other Starlings who were in the Virginia and Chesapeake Bay area as early as 1647, and prior to the birth of Isaac Jr.,in 1695.Some or all of these Starlings may be related. The Starling of 1647 was also named William and he also traded his head right of 50 acres of land for transportation to the new world.
During these early years, there were Sterlings settling in the New England area. While the spelling Sterling and Starling were frequently interchanged,it has recently been proven(by Y-DNA tests)that the New England Sterlings and the Virginia Starlings were related. How they were related has yet to be determined.
My name is Joseph David Starling.I was born in northeast Arkansas.I now live in California. Most of my family is scattered about the southeast part of the U. S.
I am married to Joyce Virginia Jones.Joyce was born in St. Louis Missouri.Much of her ancestry is centered around Rolla Mo. in Phelps County.Joyce's mother was Rosetta (Huskey) Jones. Her genealogy is also shown here.
