William Albert Stoune (1832-1892) was naturalized a US citizen in 1858 in New Orleans.While we do not know where he immigrated from, he had been in New Orleans since 1853, and had been a subject of the Russian empire.He married Julia Howard (1834-1891) in New Orleans in 1859.She was from Ireland, but we do not know when she immigrated.
By 1880, the family (now with 9 children) was in Mt. Hope, Alabama.Whether William was involved in the Civil War is not known, but since he was a merchant, he may have been involved in supply.Between 1885 and 1889 the family was in Newbern, Tennessee, and by 1890 was in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, where William had a store.
After Julia died in 1891, William married Anne Shepherd.He died in 1892, before their son William Robertson was born in 1893.
The family descended from William and Julia is now represented by Michael (b. 1940) in Lubbock, TX, Deanna Courreges (b. 1943) in Waco, TX, and Arleigh DeLeon (b. 1947) in Austin.
The family descended from William and Anne is now represented by John Lawrence (b.1945) in Oregon, and William DeWitt (b. 1952) in Illinois.
