In Search of James Dalton
Updated September 6, 2000James Dalton would have come to the United States about 1850.He was born in Ireland around 1821.He had married a Nora or Mary Bresnahan (born Ireland 1830ish) in Ireland and they had a child, Mary, prior to coming over. It is believed that they came through Virgina or Pennsylvania, although I have not found hard proof to this.A child(James) was born in Virginia.Others (Nora, George) were born in Pennsylvania. Then the back to Pennsylvania for the birth of William. The youngest John was born in Missouri. One of the sons, George, said that the family lived for a few years on a farm in Keokuk, Iowa. The family eventually ended up in St. Louis. They were Catholic and the youngest child, John, should have been baptized in St. Louis.George went on to be a doctor and practiced around New Madrid, Missouri. There had been a falling out between his family and himself, so he did not pass on any information. | |
