I am researching a number of surnames whose families immigrated to the United States in Puritan times. The primary families being Sumner and Throckmorton. These families arrived in Massachusetts (primarily Dorchester & Roxbury) before settling in towns such as Woodstock, CT, Middletown, NJ and Norwich, NY.The Throckmorton ancestral line goes directly back to the thrones of England, France, Holland, Wales and several other nations. And Royals open a whole new can of worms. My earliest known direct ancestor lived several generations before Christ. Some of the more common surnames are Lawrence, Fulton, Good, Thompson, Burdick, Babcock, Stout, Jackson, and Nichols.
I am also looking to find any information on two paternal great grandparents who immigrated to Kansas.Francesco Mingori of Italy and his wife, Lois Orphina Fouquet-Bourland-Honore of France.
I've also begun genealogical research for my wife, Erika. The primary surnames in South Texas and Northern Mexico are Olivares, Ramirez, Flores, Lucio & Salazar. And as you might expect, records in Mexico are cryptic at best.
I live in the State Capital of Texas and have access to state records here in the Lone Star State.I work two blocks from the Texas State Library.
