|This family tree currently has over 500 individuals... The surnames from my mother's side of the family are: SCHIAVO; TOVO both from Northern Italy and have been in the US since the turn of the century. On my father's side, I'm researching: SURGENOR; LEECH; MARTIN; LARKINS/LARKIN; in the US since pre-Revolutionary days with migration from Philadelphia to Middle Tennessee around the turn of the 19th century. SURGENOR from Ireland/Scotland to Tennessee around 1870. |
Of particular interest to me is Joseph SURGENOR, he came from Ireland or Scotland (depending on conflicting accounts)and settled in Dickson County, Tenn. There he married Cornelia Ann LARKINS, aka: "Nellie Ann". In 1895, three months prior to the birth of his son, William Grant SURGENOR (my grandfather), he disappeared and was never seen again.
If you have any information on Joe Surgenor or any other of these names I would love to hear from you. I am more than happy to share any information I have.
If you have any interest in these names, one source I've found invaluable is a book (self published, I think) called DICKSON COUNTY RELATIVES by Jim W. Kelly (1986)
Mr. Kelly, if you see this, please get a hold of me,(Phone,Fax, e-mail, or snail mail) you have some pictures of my Great and Greatx2 Grandparents that I would love to have copies of.
