When I started peering back in time, I had no information except an old copy of a page of the family bible and some stories that my mother remembered. There was a note written in the margin of that page that said "Bury".For a long time I thought it referred to a grave and not a town in England.Soon after that I located information on a ship manfest that listed my ggrandfather, George Openshaw and an I Openshaw as passengers. Still later, a search in the FHL told me that gggrandmother, Ellen Openshaw and the rest of her children arrived on the same ship in 1854.I decided to narrow my search to information only in The United States.
