Michael's ancestors came from Norway between 1840 and 1872.Surnames researched include Sween or Sven from Gausdal, NOR to WI and SW MN, Severson from Vallers, NOR to WI and SW MN, Aamodt and Johanson from Telemarken to SW MN, Nelson from Telemarken, NOR to NE IA and SW MN, and Tysland from W Baerum, NOR to NE IA.
Jeanne's maiden name is Knock and her ancestors came mainly from what is now Germany in two migrations, colonial and late 19th century.
Her maternal grandmother's line settled in Lancaster Co. and later Cumberland Co., PA in the late 1600s to mid 1700s.Surnames include: Hefflefinger, Hippensteel, Sell, Brady, Commerer, Burkholder, and Goodyear,Her grandmother's Hefflefinger family left PA in the early 1900's for IA, MT and finally SD.
Her maternal grandfather's line came from Mecklenberg and Westphalia in the late 1800s to Central IA. Surnames include: Philiph, Jurgemeyer, Johanmeier, Mundt and Heitkamp.
Her paternal line came from Hanover, and Holstein in the mid to late 1800s to NW IL, then Central IA and later NW IA and SE SD.Surnames include, Knock, Remmers, Temple, Folkers, Peters, Bornholdt, and Schlimme.
